About

A non-profit association registered in the state of Montana dedicated to performing, promoting, and preserving bluegrass music. Whether you are a picker or a listener, the MRBA is meant for you.

Western Montana is rich in bluegrass music and the MRBA is at the heart of the bluegrass community. With about 300 members, including some “world class” pickers, the association is active throughout the year. The MRBA hosts a one-day bluegrass festival in April featuring some of the northwest’s finest bluegrass bands. We also sponsor numerous jams and campouts throughout the year including an annual party in August. In addition to supporting and encouraging adult musicians, we nurture youngsters from the craddle to the stage.

Our campouts feature some of the hottest jams around, some fine potluck meals and wonderful fellowship. They are some of our most popular activities.

MRBA members receive a bi-monthly newsletter filled with information on local and national bluegrass music activities including a calendar of local and regional bluegrass events. The association also maintains an online presence which includes a YouTube channel, myspace with music and event listings, pictures on a Flickr site and links to all of our members websites. This blog provides for an additional way to keep members up-to-date on bluegrass happenings in the Montana Rockies.

If you are interested in volunteering to help with any of our events or the administrative tasks invovled with running this association please email us at mrba@mtbluegrass.com.

Board Member elections are held at our Annual Meeting in December. We encourage you to volunteer to serve on the Board. This gives you an opportunity to be involved in the planning of events and the future of the Association. If you are interested, email us at mrba@mtbluegrass.com.
